Shoppers in Belgrade take advantage of one of the city's well-stocked retail centers. According to the World Bank, incomes in Serbia skyrocketed in recent years as economic growth topped 7 percent. Though many people still struggle to make ends meet, numbers of fancy foreign cars, flat-panel TVs, and other luxury goods are on the rise as consumerism takes root.
